Former USA 100m hurdler Evonne Britton made her maiden appearance for Ghana with a fourth-place finish in a time of 13.08sin the women’s hurdles at the 23rd African Seniors Championships in Douala, Cameroon.
The 32-year-old recently switched nationalities from the USA to Ghana and became eligible to compete for the West African nation before the championships.
Meanwhile, the race was won by Liberia’s Ebony Morrison in 12.70s while South Africa’s Marione Fourie came second with 12.74s, followed by Madagascar’s Fiandanantsoa Sidonie with 12.98s.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Doris Mensah came 6th in the final in a time of 13.65s.
Britton was a bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles at the 2010 World Junior Championships. She produced a stunning personal best 12.78s in the 100m hurdles at the 2016 US Olympic Trials and claimed 2nd place in the 60m hurdles in the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
In her most recent interviews, she spoke about combining qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics and training younger athletes.
