The Black Stars were held to a goalless draw at home by Sudan’s national team on Thursday, October 10.

It was a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The game was the first meeting in almost four years for the two sides.

The Falcons of Jediane were led by former Black Stars captain and coach James Kwesi Appiah, who had absented himself from the pre-match press conference. His assistant, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, who is also a Ghanaian, addressed journalists.

Prior to the game, Sudan had lost one and won one in the qualifiers.

Ghana, who are four-time champions of the AFCON, had failed to win so far, having lost their opener at home to Angola and drawn goalless against Niger.

The Black Stars had a new captain on the day – Mohammed Kudus.

However, after 90 minutes, there was nothing to separate the two sides.

The result keeps the table the same for the two sides. Ghana remain third while Sudan remain second on four points.

The two sides are scheduled to lock horns again on Tuesday in the return leg.
