Ghana were drawn in Group F for the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco.
The draw for the qualifiers was held on Thursday, July 4 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Black Stars, who will be seeking an 11th successive appearance at the tournament, were drawn alongside Angola, Sudan and Niger.
Coincidentally, Ghana played against the Palancas Negras in qualifying for the 2023 edition in Ivory Coast, where the Angolans reached the quarter-finals while the Stars exited at the group stage without a single win.
1970 champions Sudan are a resurgent side under former Black Stars captain and coach James Kwesi Appiah.
They lead their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, which also has Senegal and DR Congo.
“I’ve always said there are no minnows in football now,” Sudan coach said after the draw.
“It is really important that any team you meet, you prepare very well a d make sure you have the right team to try and win the day. Personally, I also think and hope Ghana and Sudan qualify in the group.”
Niger have been walkovers for the Black Stars but their local side had beaten their Ghanaian counterparts in the last edition of the African Nations Championship.
The qualifiers are scheduled to begin in September.
