Sprinter Isaac Botsio missed out on a medal in the men’s 100m final after stopping the clock in 10.24s to place 5th at the African Senior Championships in Douala, Cameroon.

The race proved to be a tough one for the former University of Ghana Legon sprinters who was making his African Championships bow. He came through the men’s semi finals unscathed, clinching his place in the final with a 10.25s clocking.

The final race was won by Liberian sprint sensation Joseph Fambullah in 10.13s, followed by Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme Alobwede in 10.15s while South Africa’s Benjamin Richardson took third place in 10.17s.

For Botsio, who was making his debut at the African Championships, this would prove to be a steep learning curve for him.

He was a member of the national 4x100m relay team that booked a place in Paris 2024 after a stellar performance in the World Relay in the Bahamas last month.
