Nigeria’s women’s basketball team recorded one of the greatest upsets at the Paris 2024 Olympics when they defeated Australia 75:62 on the third day of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
It left the International Basketball Federation, FIBA, wondering whether the feat is the greatest upset at the Olympics on twitter:

The victory was made more remarkable because the African giants came to the competition ranked 12th against their much-fancied opponents who are ranked 3rd in the world.
But Aussies were left to rue a sluggish performance that saw them turning the ball over 26 times and achieving a success rate of just 8-of-18 free throws.
The Nigerians, who are the reigning African Champions took full advantage, firing from long range and rushing their opponents to make further mistakes as their defense caved in to pressure.
It turned out to be Nigeria’s greatest game and achievement on the Olympic stage. The celebrations that greeted the final whistle told it all.
