American sprinter Noah Lyles is promising more things to come after producing a championship comeback to win the 100m final at the Olympics.

Lyles produced an amazing last 50m sprint to win the Olympic 100m title by five-thousandths of a second from Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in a dramatic photo finish.

But Lyles is bidding to win four gold medals at the Games and says, “I hope you guys like Noah because I’ve got a lot more coming!”

“You couldn’t have asked for a bigger moment,” Lyles, seventh at the halfway stage, told BBC Sport.
“I had to take every round as it was and I was a little upset after the first round, so I came with the aggression and… I ran 9.83 [in the semi-final].

The US showman came back strongly into the race to secure victory over his Jamaican rival and in the process produced the fastest Olympic 100m final by the finest of margins in a personal best of 9.79 seconds. Thompson, who was making his debut at the Olympics, led with a strong start and clocked the same 9.79 seconds.

Meanwhile, the United States’ former world champion Fred Kerley took bronze in 9.81, edging out South Africa’s Akani Simbine for the podium.
