West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has apologised for the recent performance of the Black Stars.

Kudus captained the team for the first time over the two legs.

However, Ghana drew the first leg 0-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium before going 2-0 down in the second leg played at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Banghazi, Libya.

The loss to the Falcons of Jediane, who are coached by former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah, consigned the four-time African champions to third in Group F, on the brink of crashing out of the qualifiers.

A day after the disappointing result, stand-in captain Kudus admitted that the result from the Black Stars did not reflect their aspirations.

“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the people of Ghana for our recent performances against Sudan in Accra and Libya.

“Despite our utmost effort and dedication, the results did not reflect our aspirations or the pride we have in representing our beloved nation.

“We understand the disappointment and frustration this has caused, and we share these feeling.”

Ghana will next play against Angola and Niger in the final two qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
