The 2019 African Games champion won the event on count-back as the top three in the event all cleared the bar at 1.79m.

However, Rose together with Nigeria’s Adeshina Temitope and Robson Yvonne of South Africa failed to clear the bar at 1.82m.

This meant officials had to break the tie by assessing the performance of the athletes on count-back. While Rose had cleared the bar at 1.79m on the second attempt, her rivals cleared that bar after the third attempt respectively.

Ghana is represented by four athletes at the championships. Sprinter Sean Safo-Antwi bowed out of the men’s 100m at the semifinal stage while Duncan Agyemang similarly exited the 400m in the first round. Meanwhile, Joseph Paul Amoah is set to compete in the 200m in the coming days.
