The University of Education Winneba’s (UEW) Solomon Odonkor became the second Ghanaian athlete to book his place at the Cali 2022 World U-20 championships after clocking 21.13s (PB) at the CAA Region II Championships in Cape Coast.

Odonkor run a good curve before producing a composed finish to win the U-20 200m final to join teammate Solomon Kweku Hammond (10.53) as Ghana’s two qualified athletes.

His performance bettered the qualification standard of 21.40s for Cali 2022.

Meanwhile, the Tamale Secondary School sprinter Dennis Amponsah came second with 22.07(PB) ahead of Senegal’s El Hadji Ngom with 22.53s.
