Ghana and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey sustained a minor injury and was pulled out of the starting eleven as Ghana lost 3:0 to Brazil in a friendly in France.

Partey only returned to action for the gunners in their 3:0 victory over Brentford after a three-week layoff.

He was included in Otto Addo’s starting II but was subsequently not seen in action when the game started.

The official Black Stars twitter handle only announced Partey had been replaced by Baba Iddrisu without giving reasons.

But Joy Fm’s George Addo jnr reports Partey’s exclusion was only a precautionary measure

Apparently, Partey felt uncomfortable around his knee and was advised to pull out. Addo adds that a member of the medical team of the Black Stars told him the Arsenal man should be ready for Tuesday’s game vs Nicaragua.

He wrote on his twitter handle:

Update on 🇬🇭Thomas Partey

A member of the Black Stars medical team has confirmed to me Partey’s exclusion was only precautionary.

Meanwhile, the news about Partey’s latest injury set back is eliciting responses on the internet and specifically on twitter where one user called Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT made the following observation:

@3cbPerformance

“Until Thomas Partey gets a run of 10+ games (even then no guarantee) & fully adapts his fitness and muscular capacity to in-game intensity & demands, he’ll be at significant risk for muscular issues, esp R thigh related. It is what it is, no need to panic every time. #arsenal”

In the game itself, Ghana were battered in the first half with wave and wave of Brazilian attacks especially down the flanks, and eventually conceded three goals before putting up a resilient performance in the second period to restore some pride.
