West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has rolled back the years to inspire students at the famed St. Nicholas Charity Preparatory School, Tema.

In a visit that captured the hearts and minds of students and teachers at the school, Kudus was full of praise for the educational foundation the school is gifting the students mostly from deprived communities within the Team enclave.

“It is a privilege to be here. I heard about the educational purpose and the project here and I thought it would be very nice to come and see and encourage you guys,” he said to ruptures.

Kudus honed his talent at Nima-based Strong Tower Colts football club before being spotted by scouts of the famed Right to Dream Academy where his star shone brightly before signing professional terms at Danish club FC Nordsjælland. He told the students everyone has a right to dream based on a solid foundation in education.

“All of you have dreams and aspirations you want to achieve. But the baseline in all this is education and even in football, we use education. All the dreams that you want to achieve in life, education is a big part of it.

“It is nice to see that you guys enjoy what you are doing. And you can see the smile on my face. The teachers and workers who are putting in the effort to make sure you guys are getting the best education: I want to use this occasion to thank them.”

The former Ajax FC star was accompanied by Black Stars team doctor Dr. Prince Pambo who similarly encouraged the students.

“Coming from a similar background, I know how important it is for these children to see that their dreams are achievable. Mohammed’s visit is a beacon of hope for them,” Dr. Pambo added.

The visit was faciliated by Ivan Quashigah, a renowned Ghanaian filmmaker and the founder and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, who serves as a trustee of St. Nicholas Charity Preparatory School.

St. Nicholas Charity Preparatory School was founded in 2012 by the St. Nicholas Charity Foundation. It serves the Bankuman area in Tema New Town. The later community is inhabited by families where parents are fisherfolk and lack the means to support their children’s education. The school provides free education, uniforms, school supplies, and two meals a day to its 208 students, from Crèche to junior high school.
